Important Lane and Ramp Closures for the
Week of July 16 - July 22
 
Phase 2 Dulles Corridor Metrorail Project crews are continuing road widening and striping, lane shifting, utility work, excavation and other construction activities for the Metrorail Silver Line, Phase 2. Lane, shoulder, road and ramp closures will occur along the Dulles Toll Road (DTR), Dulles International Airport Access Highway (DIAAH), Dulles Greenway, Dulles Airport roads, and surrounding roads during the week of July 16 - July 22, 2017.
 
See below for more detailed information.  All work is weather permitting.
 
Drivers are asked to use caution remain attentive to all signage, barricades and speed limits, and obey all police and flagger instructions.

Dulles Toll Road (DTR) East
 
When:   Monday, July 17 - Friday, July 21, 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.
             Saturday, July 22, 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
What:    Alternating right and left lane closures of varying lengths
Where:  From mile marker 1.3 to 5.2 (from 1/10 mile past the Route 28 overpass to the Reston Parkway overpass)
Why:     Civil work
 
When:   Friday, July 14 - Saturday, July 15, 10 p.m. to midnight
What:    Slow roll
Where:  Along the ramp from the eastbound Dulles Greenway to the eastbound Dulles Toll Road and continuing to mile marker 1.7 (5/10 mile past the Route 28 overpass)
Why:     Pedestrian bridge installation
 
When:   Friday, July 21, 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.
             Saturday, July 22, 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.
What:    Two left lanes closed
Where:  From mile marker 0.9 to 2.5 (from 3/10 mile before the Route 28 overpass to the Centreville Road bridge)
Why:     Pedestrian bridge installation
 
Dulles Toll Road (DTR) West
 
When:   Monday, July 17 - Friday, July 21, 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
             Saturday, July 22, 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
What:    Alternating right and left lane closures of varying lengths
Where:  From mile marker 5.7 to 1.5 (from approximately 2/10 mile after the Wiehle Avenue overpass to 3/10 mile before the Route 28 overpass)
Why:     Civil work
 
When:   Friday, July 21, 10 p.m. to midnight
             Saturday, July 22, 10 p.m. to midnight
Where:  From mile marker 2.4 and continuing along the ramp to the westbound Dulles Greenway
Why:     Pedestrian bridge installation
 
Dulles International Airport Access Highway (DIAAH) East
 
When:   Monday, July 17 - Friday, July 21, 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 5 a.m.
             Saturday, July 22, 5 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 5 a.m.
What:    Alternating right and left lane closures of varying lengths
Where:  From Saarinen Circle to mile marker 5.7 (5/10 mile past the Reston Parkway overpass)
Why:     Civil work
 
When:   Monday, July 17 - Saturday, July 22, 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.
What:    Full closure
Where:  From Saarinen Circle to mile marker 0.4 (near the Rudder Road overpass).  Follow detour.
Why:     Aerial guideway construction

What:    Two left lanes closed
Where:  From Saarinen Circle to mile marker 0.4 (near the Rudder Road overpass).

What:    Ramp closed
Where:  From Saarinen Circle/eastbound DIAAH to Aviation Drive. Follow detour.

When:   Friday, July 21, 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.
             Saturday, July 22, 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.
What:    Full closure, follow detour to eastbound DTR at mile marker 1.8, returning to the eastbound DIAAH at mile marker 2.2
Where:  From mile marker 1.8 to 2.2 (from 6/10 mile past the Route 28 overpass to 3/10 mile before the Centreville Road bridge)
Why:     Pedestrian bridge installation
 
Dulles International Airport Access Highway (DIAAH) West
 
When:   Monday, July 17 - Friday, July 21, 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.
             Saturday, July 22, 5 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
What:    Alternating right and left lane closures of varying lengths
Where:  From mile marker 5.7 to 200 feet past the ramp to Copilot Way on Saarinen Circle (from 5/10 mile before the Reston Parkway overpass to 6/10 mile past the Rudder Road overpass)
Why:     Civil work
 
When:   Monday, July 17 - Saturday, July 22, 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.
What:    Full closure
Where:  From mile marker 0.3 to Saarinen Circle (from 2/10 mile past the Rudder Road overpass to Saarinen Circle near Garage 1), traffic will be diverted around work area.
Why:    Aerial guideway construction
 
Materials Road East and West
                
When:   Sunday, July 16, 6 p.m. to 5 a.m.
What:    Alternating right and left lane closures
Where:  At the intersection of Autopilot Drive and Materials Road

Rudder Road West
 
When:   Monday, July 17 - Friday, July 21, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
             Saturday, July 22, 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.
What:    Right lane closed
Where:  From the ramp to the Green Lot to the Blue Lot access road
Why:     Duct bank work
 
Dulles Greenway East
 
When:   Monday, July 17 - Friday, July 21, 10 a.m. to 6 pm. and 6 p.m. to 5 a.m.
             Saturday, July 22, 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
What:    Alternating right and left lane closures of varying lengths
Where:  Between mile marker 7.6 and 14.0 (from Broadlands Boulevard to the end of the ramp to the eastbound Dulles Toll Road), short lane closures of varying lengths will occur
Why:     Road work
 
When:   Monday, July 17 - Saturday, July 22, 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
What:    Two right lanes closed OR two left lanes closed
Where:  From mile marker 10.0 to 12.0 (from 2/10 mile past the Loudoun County Parkway overpass to 4/10 mile before the mainline toll plaza)
Why:     Aerial guideway construction
 
When:   Friday, July 21, 10 p.m. to 8 a.m.
             Saturday, July 22, 10 p.m. to 8 a.m.
What:    Full closure of all eastbound lanes
Where:  At mile marker 11.0, all traffic will exit the eastbound Dulles Greenway via Exit 8A, Old Ox Road East/Route 606.  Follow detour.
Why:     Aerial guideway construction
 
When:   Friday, July 21, 10 p.m. to midnight
             Saturday, July 22, 10 p.m. to midnight
What:    Slow roll
Where:  From mile marker 13.5 (along the ramp to the eastbound Dulles Toll Road) to Dulles Toll Road mile marker 1.7 (5/10 mile past the Route 28 overpass)

When:   Monday, July 17 - Friday, July 21, 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.
             Saturday, July 22, 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
What:    Alternating right and left lane closures of varying lengths
Where:  Between mile marker 12.2 and 7.6 (from 2/10 mile past the mainline toll plaza to Broadlands Boulevard), short lane closures of varying lengths will occur
Why:     Civil work
 
When:   Friday, July 21, 10 p.m. to midnight
             Saturday, July 22, 10 p.m. to midnight
What:    Slow roll
Where:  From Dulles Toll Road mile marker 1.7 (5/10 mile before the Route 28 overpass) to mile marker 13.5 (along the ramp to the westbound Dulles Greenway)

Where:  At the intersection of Sunrise Valley Drive and Roark Drive, into the Herndon-Monroe Park and Ride facility
