Important Lane and Ramp Closures for the
Week of Sept. 10 - Sept. 16
 
Phase 2 Dulles Corridor Metrorail Project crews are continuing road widening and striping, lane shifting, utility work, excavation and other construction activities for the Metrorail Silver Line, Phase 2. Lane, shoulder, road and ramp closures will occur along the Dulles Toll Road (DTR), Dulles International Airport Access Highway (DIAAH), Dulles Greenway, Dulles Airport roads, and surrounding roads during the week of Sept. 10 - Sept. 16.

Drivers are asked to use caution remain attentive to all signage, barricades and speed limits, and obey all police and flagger instructions. Slow-moving vehicles and equipment may be entering and exiting the highways and surrounding roads.

Dulles Toll Road East
 
When:   Monday, Sept. 11 - Friday, Sept. 15, 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.
             Saturday, Sept. 16, 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
What:    Alternating right and left lane closures of varying lengths
Where:  From mile marker 1.3 to 5.2 (from 1/10 mile past the Route 28 overpass to the Reston Parkway overpass)
Why:     Civil work
 
When:   Monday, Sept. 11 - Saturday, Sept. 16, 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.
What:    Alternating double right and double left lane closures
Where:  From mile marker 3.7 to 5.0 (from 3/10 mile past the Monroe Street/Van Buren Street overpass to 2/10 mile before the Reston Parkway overpass)
Why:     Utility work
 
Dulles Toll Road West
 
When:   Monday, Sept. 11 - Friday, Sept. 15, 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
             Saturday, Sept. 16, 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
What:    Alternating right and left lane closures of varying lengths
Where:  From mile marker 5.7 to 1.5 (from approximately 2/10 mile after the Wiehle Avenue overpass to 3/10 mile before the Route 28 overpass)
Why:     Civil work
 
When:   Tuesday, Sept. 12 - Thursday, Sept. 14, 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.
What:    Two left lanes closed
Where:  From mile marker 4.8 to 3.5 (from 4/10 mile past the Reston Parkway overpass to 4/10 mile past the Fairfax County Parkway overpass)
Why:     Pedestrian bridge preparation
 
When:   Saturday, Sept. 16, 10 p.m. to Sunday, Sept. 17, 6 a.m.
What:    Full closure
Where:  From the Fairfax County Parkway to Centreville Road.  Follow detour.
Why:     Pedestrian bridge installation
 
When:   Friday, Sept. 15 - Saturday, Sept. 16, 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.
What:    20 minute stoppages/slow rolls
Where:  From mile marker 5.5 to 4.8 (from 3/10 mile before to 4/10 mile past the Reston Parkway overpass)
Why:     Pedestrian bridge installation
 
Dulles International Airport Access Highway (DIAAH) East
 
When:   Monday, Sept. 11 - Friday, Sept. 15, 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 5 a.m.
             Saturday, Sept. 16, 5 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 5 a.m.
What:    Alternating right and left lane closures of varying lengths
Where:  From Saarinen Circle to mile marker 5.7 (5/10 mile past the Reston Parkway overpass)
Why:     Civil work
 
Dulles International Airport Access Highway (DIAAH) West
 
When:   Monday, Sept. 11 - Friday, Sept. 15, 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.
             Saturday, Sept. 16, 5 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
What:    Alternating right and left lane closures of varying lengths
Where:  From mile marker 5.7 to 200 feet past the ramp to Copilot Way on Saarinen Circle (from 5/10 mile before the Reston Parkway overpass to 6/10 mile past the Rudder Road overpass)
Why:     Civil work
 
When:   Friday, Sept. 15, 10 p.m. to Saturday, Sept. 16, 6 a.m.
What:    Full closure
Where:  From mile marker 9.0 to 1.8 (from 2/10 past the Beulah Road overpass to 6/10 mile before the Route 28 overpass).  Follow detour.
Why:     Pedestrian bridge installation
 
Dulles Greenway East
 
When:   Monday, Sept. 11 - Friday, Sept. 15, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 5 a.m.
             Saturday, Sept. 16, 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 5 a.m.
What:    Alternating right and left lane closures of varying lengths
Where:  Between mile marker 7.6 and 14.0 (from Broadlands Boulevard to the end of the ramp to the eastbound Dulles Toll Road), short lane closures of varying lengths will occur
Why:     Road work
 
When:   Monday, Sept. 11 - Saturday, Sept. 16, 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
What:    Two right lanes closed OR two left lanes closed
Where:  From mile marker 10.0 to 12.0 (from 2/10 mile past the Loudoun County Parkway overpass to 4/10 mile before the mainline toll plaza)
Why:     Aerial guideway construction
 
Dulles Greenway West
 
When:   Monday, Sept. 11 - Friday, Sept. 15, 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.
             Saturday, Sept. 16, 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.
What:    Alternating right and left lane closures of varying lengths
Where:  Between mile marker 12.2 and 7.6 (from 2/10 mile past the mainline toll plaza to Broadlands Boulevard), short lane closures of varying lengths will occur
Why:     Civil work
 
Fairfax County Parkway North and South
 
When:   Saturday, Sept. 16, 10 p.m. to Sunday, Sept. 17, 6 a.m.
What:    Ramps closed
Where:  From the northbound and southbound Fairfax County Parkway to the westbound Dulles Toll Road.  Follow detour.
Why:     Pedestrian bridge installation
 
Sunrise Valley Drive West
 
When:   Monday, Sept. 11 - Thursday, Sept. 14, 9:30 a.m. to 3:30
             Friday, September 15, 9:30 a.m. to noon
What:    Right lane closed
Where:  From Thunder Chase Drive to 200 feet past Hitchcock Drive
Why:     Utility work
