Rock Removal (Blasting) Schedule for
March 28 - April 1
The following plan provides details for Rock Removal by Blasting for the period of March 28 - April 1 for the Dulles Corridor Metrorail Project Rail Yard and Maintenance Facility along U.S. Route 606 (Old Ox Road) and Mercure Circle as provided below:
NOTE: Hensel Phelps anticipates shutting down Old Ox Road (Rt. 606) (as described below) on Wednesday/Thursday, March 30/31 for a blast that will be in close proximity to the road.
WHAT: Rock removal by blasting will be performed by Hensel Phelps to remove the diabase rock that has been encountered on the project site to allow work on the structures and rail yard facilities at the designed elevation.
WHEN: From March 28 to April 1, Hensel Phelps will conduct production blasting. The window for weekly blasting is Monday - Friday between the hours of 2 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. Blasting will not occur on Fridays if blasting is near Route 606/Old Ox Road requiring traffic stoppage.
HOW: The daily blasting routine will include:
