Important Lane and Ramp Closures for the
Week of August 7 - August 13
Phase 2 Dulles Corridor Metrorail Project crews are continuing road widening, lane shifting, utility work, excavation and other construction activities for the Metrorail Silver Line, Phase 2. Lane, shoulder, road and ramp closures will occur along the Dulles Toll Road, Dulles International Airport Access Highway, Autopilot Drive, Rudder Road, Dulles Greenway, Route 28 and Sunset Hills Road during the week of August 7 - August 13. All work is weather permitting.

Dulles Toll Road East
When: Sunday, August 7 – Sunday, August 14, 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. What: Alternating right and left lane closures of varying lengths Where: From mile marker 1.3 to 3.3 (from 1/10 mile past the Route 28 overpass to 1/10 mile before the Monroe Street overpass) Why: Jack and bore, duct bank work

When: Sunday, August 7, 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. What: Alternating right and left lane closures of varying lengths Where: From mile marker 5.7 to 3.3 (from 5/10 mile before the Reston Parkway overpass to 1/10 mile past the Monroe Street overpass) Why: Jack and bore operations

When: Wednesday, August 10, 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. What: Single left lane closure will begin at 7 p.m. and transition to double left lane closure at 10 p.m. Where: From mile marker 2.7 to 1.5 (between the Monroe/Van Buren Street and Route 28 overpasses) Why: Sign removal
When: Saturday, August 13, 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. What: Two left lanes closed Where: From mile marker 4.2 and 3.4 (approximately from the Fairfax County Parkway overpass to the Monroe/VanBuren Street overpass) Why: Restriping roadway
Dulles International Airport Access Highway (DIAAH) East
When: Sunday, August 7 - Saturday, August 13, 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. What: Eastbound lane reductions begin at 9 p.m. Eastbound full closure begins at 10 p.m. Road reopens at 5 a.m. Follow detour. Where: From Saarinen Circle to mile marker 0.4 (near the Rudder Road overpass) Why: Installation of a concrete span across the eastbound DIAAH.
When: Sunday, August 7, 5 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 5 a.m. What: Alternating right and left lane closures of varying lengths Where: From mile marker 0.0 to 2.3 (from Saarinen Circle to 2/10 mile before the Centreville Road overpass) Why: Construction entrance acceleration/deceleration lane

When: Tuesday, August 9, 6 p.m. to 5 a.m. What: Left lane closure and between midnight and 5 a.m., several 20 minute stoppages will Where: From mile marker 1.4 to 1.8 (between the Route 28 and Centreville Road overpasses). The ramp from the eastbound DIAAH to the eastbound DTR at mile marker 1.8 will remain accessible to traffic except during the 20 minute stoppages. Why: Overhead sign removal
When: Wednesday and Thursday, August 10-11, 6 p.m. to 5 a.m. What: Right lane closure and closure of ramp from eastbound DIAAH to the eastbound DTR at Where: From mile marker 1.6 to 2.3 (between the Route 28 and Centreville Road overpasses). Detour to Centreville Road Exit 10: Signage will direct eastbound traffic leaving the Airport to use the Dulles Toll Road. Where: From mile marker 1.6 to 2.3 (between the Route 28 and Centreville Road overpasses). Detour to Centreville Road Exit 10: Signage will direct eastbound traffic leaving the Airport to use the Dulles Toll Road. When: Sunday, August 7, 5 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. What: Alternating right and left lane closures of varying lengths Where: From mile marker 5.7 to 3.3 (from 5/10 mile before the Reston Parkway overpass to 1/10 mile past the Monroe Street overpass) Why: Road work
