Construction Activities Along the Dulles Access Highway and
Dulles Toll Road Near Herndon and
Reston Town Center Metrorail Stations
Friday, June 16 at 9 p.m. to Tuesday, June 20 at 5 a.m.
 
Construction will detour eastbound traffic on the Dulles International Airport Access Highway (DIAAH) to the eastbound Dulles Toll Road (DTR)  overnight between the Fairfax County Parkway overpass at the Reston Parkway overpass on or about Friday, June 16 at 9 p.m. through Monday, June 19 at 5 a.m.

The detour will allow Dulles Corridor Metrorail Project crews to continue construction of the Reston Town Center Metrorail Station in the median of the Dulles Access Highway. All work is weather dependent and subject to change.
 
 
Figure 1:  Traffic on the EB DIAAH will be diverted to the EB DTR near mile marker 4.0.

Friday, June 16, 9 p.m. to Monday, June 19, 5 a.m. (See Figure 1)

  • Eastbound DIAAH traffic between mile markers 4.0 and 5.1 will be diverted to the left lane of the eastbound DTR.
  • Eastbound DIAAH traffic to the Fairfax County Parkway will be diverted to the DTR at mile markers 1.8 and 2.7. Signage will be in place to inform drivers.
  • Eastbound DIAAH traffic to the Reston Parkway will be diverted to the DTR at mile marker 1.8.  Signage will be in place to inform drivers.
  • Eastbound DTR traffic will be restricted to the two right lanes.
  • Eastbound DIAAH traffic will return to the DIAAH at mile marker 5.1, just prior to the Reston Parkway overpass and all lanes will be restored for eastbound DTR use.
Sunday, June 18, 7 p.m. to Monday, June 19, 5 a.m.
During the overnight hours on Sunday night, June 18 and Monday night, June 19, double lane closures will occur on the westbound DTR while crews conduct striping operations.
  • Westbound DTR:  Two right lanes closed from east of the Herndon-Monroe Park & Ride overpass to the Monroe/Van Buren Street overpass (See Figure 2).

Monday, June 19, 10 p.m. to Tuesday, June 20, 5 a.m. (if needed)
  • Westbound DTR:  Two left lanes closed from east of the Herndon-Monroe Park & Ride overpass to the Monroe/Van Buren Street overpass (See Figure 3).
