 Blasting Is Now Complete
Blasting operations are now complete for the Dulles Corridor Metrorail Project Rail Yard and Maintenance Facility along U.S. Route 606 (Old Ox Road) and Mercure Circle.


NOTE: If in the future there is requirement to blast, notifications will be sent in advance.

WHAT: Rock removal by blasting was performed by Hensel Phelps to remove the diabase rock that has been encountered on the project site to allow work on the structures and rail yard facilities at the designed elevation.
WHEN: On June 15, 2016, Hensel Phelps confirmed rock removal (blasting) for the Rail Yard and Maintenance Facility was complete. The window for weekly blasting was Monday through Saturday between the hours of 1:30 - 2:30 p.m. Blasting did not occur on Fridays when blasting was in close proximity to Route 606/Old Ox Road requiring traffic stoppage.
