Dulles Connector Road Eastbound Lane Shift to Begin April 25
On or about April 25, motorists using the eastbound Dulles Connector Road (DCR), which connects the Dulles Toll Road to Interstate 66, should watch for a lane shift that will continue for several months.
Dulles Corridor Metrorail Project crews plan to improve the left shoulder of the eastbound DCR. The improvements require the closure of the portions of the DCR’s left lane from Chain Bridge Road to I-66; when these closures occur, traffic will use the right-hand bus lane. The work will be done section by section; additional alerts with specific locations will be issued as the work nears. In addition, between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. daily, a lane closure will be required in the area where crews are working.
The Dulles Corridor Metrorail Project is making these enhancements at the request of the Virginia Department of Transportation as part of the Silver Line Phase 1 project.
All work is weather dependent and subject to change.
Signs and barriers will be used to help direct traffic and minimize impacts. Police will be on hand to assist with traffic management as needed. Drivers should use extreme caution in the areas and allow extra time to travel in these areas.
