Overnight Detour on Eastbound DIAAH at Dulles Airport: Sunday, April 10 - Monday, April 11
On or about Sunday, April 10, and continuing until Monday, April 11 at 5 a.m., the eastbound Dulles International Airport Access Highway (DIAAH) at Dulles International Airport between mile markers 0.0 and 0.4 will be detoured to eastbound Aviation Drive. There will be two alternatives for access to the DIAAH, Dulles Greenway and to return to the airport.
Left lane closures will begin at 7 p.m. with all lanes of traffic detouring to Aviation Drive at 10 p.m. After 10 p.m., 15 minute closures of the ramp from the eastbound DIAAH to Aviation Drive may occur.  Signage and police officers will be in place to direct travelers to airport exit alternatives.
The large metal straddle bent form will be moved in two separate pieces across Aviation Drive at Dulles International Airport to the location of the third straddle bent that will span the eastbound lanes of the DIAAH near the main terminal.
The lane closures and detours are necessary to move the large metal forms used in the construction of the straddle bents over portions of the DIAAH.  A straddle bent is used to “straddle” wide spans of roadway allowing the unimpeded flow of traffic below. This is the third of eight straddle bents that will be built during Phase 2 of the Dulles Corridor Metrorail Project.
All work is weather permitting. Drivers should exercise caution, pay attention to barriers and signage and obey all police and flagger instructions.
A 24/7 emergency hotline is available for Dulles Corridor Metrorail Project construction-related issues: 844-385-7245.
