Aerial Guideway Construction Returns to

Autopilot Drive at Dulles International Airport

On or about the week of August 1, Dulles Corridor Metrorail Project crews will continue setting concrete girders and constructing the deck of the Silver Line's aerial guideway across Autopilot Drive near the Rudder Road intersection at Dulles International Airport. Weather permitting, the girder installation and deck construction will take place from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. on weeknights, and will continue south towards the cargo area.

Lane and road closures will occur on Autopilot Drive (see Figure 1) and Rudder Road (see Figure 2 on the next page) at night while equipment is mobilized, girders are set, and deck concrete is poured.  Traffic will be detoured around the work area, and access to all car rental and other tenant facilities will be maintained throughout the operations.

Additional information about specific lane and road closures and detours will be issued as the work progresses.

NOTE:  Traffic entering the airport from Old Ox Road may experience delays on Ariane Way, Materials Road, and southbound Autopilot Drive overnight and during the early morning hours.
