Lights Are On - But Silver Line Stations Are Not Yet Open to the Public

Passersby of Silver Line Phase 2 rail stations might notice that the lights have been on at night recently. However, the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority is reminding the public that the six new Phase 2 Silver Line Metrorail stations along the Dulles Airport Highway/Dulles Toll Road from Reston to Ashburn are not yet open.

Project crews continue to work on punch-list and other final touches required before the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority accepts the system and begins preparations for passenger service. The pavilions, pedestrian bridges leading to stations, tracks and other areas will remain closed until passenger service begins. Those stations are Reston Town Center, Herndon, Innovation Center, Loudoun Gateway and Ashburn, as well as the station at Dulles International Airport.

Entering these facilities is trespassing. Each pavilion entry is clearly marked CLOSED.

“The safety of our workers and the general public continues to be a priority of this project. Safety always comes first. We understand that the stations, support structures and other areas may appear interesting, but we are asking that everyone comply with signs, barricades and other restrictions around the Silver Line station construction sites," said project spokesperson Marcia McAllister.
