Storm Water Drilling Beginning Near Rudder Road and Dulles International Airport Access Highway Today, Thursday, Dec. 13
Today, Thursday, Dec. 13, Dulles Corridor Metrorail Project (DCMP) crews will begin drilling to determine existing ground water levels where storm water management facilities (ponds) will be built along Phase 2 of the Silver Line.
These water monitoring operations are in preparation for design of the ponds. The first two areas to be affected are at or near the Washington Dulles International Airport. Drilling begins Thursday between Rudder Road and Dulles International Airport Access Highway.
A total of five sites require the drilling procedures. There are 17 storm water facilities at 15 locations starting just west of Reston Parkway heading west onto the airport and out onto the Dulles Greenway.
All work is weather dependent and subject to change.
Drivers are asked to use caution and pay attention to all signage and barricades. Large, slow-moving vehicles may be exiting and entering the highway at various times.
