UPDATE:  Nighttime Lane Closures and Detours on the Dulles International Airport Access Highway and Dulles Toll Road
Wednesday, March 22, Thursday, March 23, and Saturday, March 25
On or about Wednesday, March 22 and Thursday, March 23, night time lane closures will take place on the westbound Dulles International Airport Access Highway (DIAAH) between the Route 28 overpass and just east of the Centreville Road bridge (mile markers 1.3 - 2.7) for the installation of an overhead sign. More detailed information follows below:
Westbound DIAAH:  Wednesday, March 22, and Thursday, March 23,  7 p.m. to 5 a.m.
  • A single right lane closure on the westbound DIAAH will begin at 7 p.m. at mile marker 2.3, and will transition to a double right lane closure at 10 p.m. at mile marker 1.7 (See Figure 1).
  • All lanes will be reopened to traffic by 5 a.m.

The lane closures and 20 minutes stoppages on the westbound DIAAH that were previously scheduled for the night of Friday, March 24, will take place at a later date.
On Saturday, March 25, at 9 p.m. through Sunday, March 26, at 5 a.m., construction will detour
eastbound traffic on the DIAAH to the eastbound Dulles Toll Road (DTR) overnight between the Centreville Road bridge and the Reston Parkway overpass.
The detour will allow Dulles Corridor Metrorail Project crews to set several large precast concrete elements at the Silver Line's future Herndon and Reston Town Center Metrorail stations in the median of the Airport Access Highway.
Eastbound DIAAH and DTR:  Saturday, March 25, 9 p.m. to Sunday, March 26, 5 a.m.
  • Eastbound DIAAH traffic to the Fairfax County Parkway and Reston Parkway will be diverted to the eastbound DTR at mile marker 1.8. Signage will be in place to direct drivers.
  • Eastbound DIAAH traffic between mile markers 2.7 and 4.9 will be diverted to the left lane of the eastbound DTR. (See Figure 2.)
  • Eastbound DTR traffic will be restricted to the two right lanes.
  • Eastbound DIAAH traffic will return to the DIAAH at mile marker 4.9, just prior to the Reston Parkway overpass and all lanes will be restored for eastbound DTR use.

Police will be present along the DIAAH and DTR for safety.  Drivers should exercise caution, pay attention to barrier and signage and obey all police and flagger instructions.
All work is weather dependent and subject to change.
